Another week of “The Best Of” and “Hectic Moments”

Posted on Aug 26, 2008 under The Show, The Staff | No Comment

Seriously, I think we’ve had too much of these shows. The best of, hectic moments, etc..

I don’t mind them once in a while, when they call out sick or whatever but we’ve had what, over 2 weeks worth in the past month and a half? Can’t we get something else? How about an OMG & Branzig show (Toast has his own show). I think that could be interesting. Even if Paul calls out, why doesn’t Ron take the show for himself (it would be an interesting show…)?

Well, at least I know my iPod will get some use this week. :(

The impending doom of the armageddon called “Fay”

Posted on Aug 18, 2008 under Storms, The Show | No Comment

This morning P&YR are discusisng the storm in a rather humorous way. OMG is stationed at the beach where it is “a rather nice day” and Tommy is at Home Depot reporting that “it’s business as usual and the fire pit that Paul wanted is $80″.

I think the best is the caller who reported “Right now it’s so bad it sounds like a freight train is going by my house. Oh, wait, it’s 7:30, that is a freight train”. :)

OMG Back with the Cuban Sandwich?

So, is OMG back together with the Cuban Sandwich?

Looks like yet another day of “The Best Of…”

Or OMG and the sandwich got back together.   I guess it is time to get things done then.  :(

OMG & The Cuban Sandwich - is it over?

Posted on Aug 07, 2008 under OMG | No Comment

It seems that the basis of this morning’s show is that OMG is having troubles with the Cuban Sandwich. They’ve been together for a while now (but less than a year).

Thoughts on this? Do you think it will be over or to you think they’ll patch it up? Honestly, OMG is 25 and I don’t know how old the Cuban Sandwich is (probabaly low 20s?). They still have most of their lives ahead of them so either way, I wish them both good luck.

From the text messages that Paul just read it sound like it is officially over. :( And OMG, I’ve known plenty of Columbian girls who don’t do coke, go for it. :)

Mike, take some time off and enjoy being single (no commitments, no permission etc..). Go out with your friends, and enjoy life. Don’t just jump back into the game.

As for OMG’s trip next week, I think he made the right choice. Sure, most guys have a fantasy of having a trip like this with a porn star but she seemed a lot high and had other motives to go. Going with a porn star you are expected to be at a much higher standard, you are always thinking that everyone is staring at her, judging him with her, and you also think “who else has been here before”. With the ladies he’s going with, he won’t have any of that nor will he have to deal with any stalkers.

August 21 - Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza (Pembroke Pines)

On August 21st, Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza will fufull the bet that they had and will offically put the Paul and Young Ron pizza on the menu. Dan Marino will be on site to sign a menu that will be framed and given to Paul & Young Ron.

Excellent job, guys.

P&YR announce the return of “Love Connection”

Posted on Aug 06, 2008 under The Show | No Comment

The show just announced that they will be bringing back “The Love Connection” (like they used to). Paul says that “it will be different”

One month, 3 weeks one girl.

The girl will do one date a week for three weeks and at the end she picks one guy who will accompany her to the Atlantis resort for the Paul & Young Ron come along in the Bahamas.

Requirements:

  • She has to be at least 21, Pauyl mentioned 25-40 is preferable. He wants “a woman to play along” (sounds kinky)
  • Send P&YR a bio and a photo, the links are on their page (limit the bio)
  • She will interview callers on the air (during the show)
  • OMG will accompany them on each date to provide play by *ahem* play commentary

OMG and Paul agree that “The Cougar” would be a perfect person for this but since she was waryabout the show & being announced on air, things didn’t work out (plus OMG had “nothing to offer for the Cougar).

Local bands can now promte themselves in the forums

Posted on Aug 04, 2008 under Site News | No Comment

Growing up in New Hampshire, in between Boston, Mass, the University of New Hampshire, and Portsmouth, NH I had exposure to some great local talent. this ranged from some guy with a guitar at my college playing for tips to serving Bradly Delp (original lead singer for the band, Boston) in the seafood department I ran (don’t believe the story about him being a vegan his entire life).

While listening to my iPod tonight it jumped on an album I purchased years ago called “Localpalooza” where a local rock station, WHEB, had a concert series (like Lollapalooza) where they promoted local bands. Say Zusu, Heavens to Murgatriod, and the local favorite, Thanks to Gravity, and it came to me. Without the right promotions, these bands might never had made it. Imagine if no one helped Boston get off their feet and signed them up for their first gig. Would Brad have continued on building refrigerator coils while singing Beatles songs at night clubs?

With this, I decided to add in a section in the forums where local bands can promote themselves. I know it won’t be much now but it is free advertising for them and maybe some of us would be able to catch some of their shows. If you are in a local band (and “local” doesn’t have to be south Florida, I have 3 sections - “south Florida”, “Florida”, and anywhere else) feel free to pop in and post about your band (please read the rules first, though).

One of Paul’s favorite places - Bass Pro Shop’s Outdoor World

Posted on Aug 03, 2008 under Paul Castronovo, Show Sponsors | 2 Comments

Paul is always talking about Bass Pro Shop’s Outdoor World so my wife and I decided to check it out this weekend (a friend of her’s also told us it was a good place to get some dog training supplies).

It is very easy to get to, take I-95 to Griffin road and go west. At the first intersection (light) after 95, take a left and then take your first left. You’ll go past a Tri-Rail station and twist around a little and it will be on your left next to the fishing hall of fame (they have one of those?).

I have to say I really liked this place. It reminds me of LL Bean in Freeport, Maine and the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine. If you think it is just fishing supplies, you are gravely mistaken.

They have everything and anything for outdoor activities. Fishing, hunting (rifle and bow), boating, pools, dog training equipment, camping, kayaking, tents, tons of clothes, boots, bags, coolers, and that’s just the beginning. I even laughed at the bait vending machine outside.

The prices aren’t that bad, a little less than LL Bean but very close in quality (the products seem good). Plus they have almost anything you’d need (I’ll have to go to Home Depot to get the snap hooks that I need but they did have mountain climbing rope which will make good dog training leashes). We even picked up a few presents for my nephew (who turned 1 a few months ago).

They even have a restaurant inside and a sushi bar (you wouldn’t see this in Maine!). The food was very good and the price was good compared to what you’d pay at a nicer restaurant (I think our bill came to $55 for my wife and I, no alcohol but we did get appetizers).

We’ll visit there again, definitely. I guess LL Bean just lost us to this place for some of our shopping.  We’ll still head up there when we’re in NH visiting my family but that may be it, no more catalog ordering for us.
