Today in Rock (Mar 23)

Posted on Mar 23, 2009 under Today in Rock |

Hello all, sorry I took the week off last week, work was busy. :) Well, hopefully I’ll keep this up from now on. :)

  • 1944 - Rik Okasek (The Cars) was born.
  • 1953 - Chaka Khan was born.
  • 1961 - Elvis Presley sets a new UK chart record - three consecutive No. 1 singles: It’s Now or Never, Are You Lonesome Tonight and Wooden Heart.
  • 1962 - Beatles play evening show at Barnston Women’s Institute. Gig fee is £25 and for the first time they wear grey suits with velvet lapels.
  • 1980 - A gunman holds up Elektra Records in New York demanding to speak to Eagles or Jackson Browne. He gives up and leaves when told they live in California! (Was he the dumbass of the year?)
