  • 1966 - Sean Kinney (Alice in Chains) was born.
  • 1977 - British radio stations ban the Sex Pistol’s “God Save the Queen” - it still becomes #1 on the UK charts anyway. (This just proves bad press is the best press for any artist?).

  • 2005 - New York jurors award Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor $2.9 million and full control of all the band’s trademarks in a lawsuit he filed in 2004 against his former manager John Malm. Reznor accused Malm of fraud and breach of fiduciary duties.

HarryOki

This week’s “season finale” of HarryOki was Dave Lamont vs. (Young) Ron Brewer.

OK, does Ron really know Faith No More? (I’m calling a set up)

OK - I missed a lot of the real version but Dave Lamont did win (I guess he whipped Ron’s ass).

A tribute to Elton John

Posted on May 23, 2009 under Tribute | No Comment

I don’t care if he’s a complete asshole to the paparazzi and they jump on it every chance they get - Elton is still one hell of a performer and songwriter.

I think we don’t have any performers today to play with the energy and passion that Elton has throughout the years (who knows if it was fueled by drugs or not..). :) I think there are also some iconic faces in this live performance.

Elton’s career has also lasted though the decades and he never seemed to slow down at any time.

And lastly, when Elton did a tribute to the late Freddie Mercury during Queen’s “Concert for Life”. It was great to see him front up the surviving members of queen (Brian May on guitar, John Deacon on bass, Roger Taylor on drums). It also seems that Elton was always ready to help out with charities.

The update is done.

The update is completed (as of noon on Saturday).  Most people won’t notice a difference but the site may run a little faster now with a newer version of the back end software and a more optimized database.

You may notice more ads (not placements, just a variety of ads - to help pay for the domain registration and hosting) on the site. I’ve decided to sign up with a new ad service (a step up from AdSense) which will allow me to pick and choose the ads that appear on the site. I will try to make sure that the ads are ethical, rated PG at worst, and either related to the music industry or south Florida businesses. None should have any kind of spyware or malware nor should any have any links to porn ect. If you see any ads that should not be here, please take a screenshot of the ad and attach it as a jpeg and email it to admin (at) youcantwin (dot) net.
