  • 1951 - Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire) was born.
  • 1961 - Paul Geary (Extreme) was born.
  • 1967 - Jefferson Airplane’s second album, “Surrealistic Pillow” goes gold. It contains the classics “White Rabbit” and “Somebody to Love“.
  • 1978 - The film, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band” is released.
  • 1999 - Woodstock ‘99 opens in Rome, NY. Rain, riots, mud, alcohol, drugs, etc.. make it a disaster. (Yet I’m sure most of the people who went still had a great time). Nothing like the original Woodstock.
  • 1987 - The film, “La Bamba” is released. The biopic about Ritchie Valens stars Lou Diamond Phillips and has appearances by Brian Setzer and Marchall Crenshaw.
  • 2006 - Deep Purple cancel their show at Lebanon’s Baalbeck International Festival due to ongoing conflicts (political / war).
  • 2008 - Former Smashing Pumpkins members, D’arcy Wretzky-Brown and James Iha file a lawsuit against Virgin Records over profits from digitally released music.
