- 1960 - Near the end of his service with the army Elvis Presley is promoted to Seargent.
- 1969 - Dave Grohl (Nirvana / Foo Fighters - drum / guitar / vocal) was born.

- 2005 - Late Ramones’ guitarist Johnny Ramone (a.k.a. John Cummings) is honored with a bronze statue at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in L.A. Ramone’s likeness stands near the gravesite of his former bandmate Dee Dee Ramone, who died of a drug overdose in ‘02. Nicolas Cage, Rob Zombie and Eddie Vedder are among those who commemorate Ramone’s life. Ramone died the previous September of prostate cancer at the age of 55.
